Spring in Seoul : Hangang Yeouido Night View of Spring Flower Festival

#WowKorea
It's the time again, the cold winter finishing, winds starting to thaw, birds are chirping and flowers starting to bloom.
If you are in Korea, it's no doubt that you see the immersion of flowers with white and pink colors on the cheery trees. Once they bloom its really hard to go more than few steps without watching the dazzling displays of colors from the many cheery trees scattered around the countryside.
Night View of Hangang With Cheery Immersion
If you can’t get enough of the fluffy pink flowers, then Yeouido is the place for you. In Korea, the biggest spring festival event is at Yeouido Spring Flower Festival in Seoul and the Jinhae Cheery Blossom Festival. Specially the night view. For 2015, Spring Flower Festival will be happening on the island in Seoul’s city center. While it may not be the most peaceful place in the city for a stroll under a canopy of cherry blossoms, it’s hard to deny that beauty of the trees flanking the Han River and the National Assembly building.
Its was April 14, 2015, me accompanying with my family in Korea was there for sight seeing. The Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival is concentrated along the northern shores of
My family in Korea.
Yeouido; however, the canopy of cherry blossoms extends for most of the circumference of the island, meaning that a stroll along the southern shores of Yeouido is sure to provide more relaxation.
The festival will feature a lot of flowers, as well as musical performances and many street vendors selling food. While not the most cultural of Korea’s festivals, it’s certainly one of the prettiest.
If you take the subway to Yeouido Station (Line 5 or 9), take a stroll in Yeouido Park (여의도공원)itself.  If you have time, having a leisurely picnic in the park is not a bad idea.  After that, enjoy the walk beneath big shady trees filled with spring flowers along Yeouiseo-ro (여의서로) that runs along the Han River Park (한강공원).  The first subway station that you will hit along the Han River is Yeouinaru Station (Line 5). From Yeouido station exit, taking a 8-min walk parallel to the Olympic Way, it will bring you to the Yeouido Park.  The entrance of Yeouido Park is very prominent, with its huge Hangeul characters which you will not miss.

Number of Admitted Students: Several students in each department

Types of Programs: Integrated Doctoral Education Program, Master's Program, Doctoral Program

Application Period: August 1, 2014 - December 1, 2014

1. General Prospectus

Tokyo Institute of Technology ("Tokyo Tech") launched its International Graduate Program in October 2007 as an opportunity for qualified international students, who may have little or no knowledge of the Japanese language, to enroll in Tokyo Tech's Master's or Doctoral Programs and pursue an advanced degree in Japan.
With a diverse group of academic departments participating in this program, students should be able to find a department in which to further their research, acquire broader knowledge and understanding, and conduct advanced long-term research in a field that best matches their interests and background.

There is no Japanese language requirement for this program as lectures and seminars are held in English. However, students are given opportunities to attend Japanese classes on a regular basis in order to better adapt to daily life in Japan.

A limited number of students with outstanding academic records are eligible to apply for a scholarship from Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology ("MEXT") with a recommendation from Tokyo Tech.

2. Programs

The International Graduate Program offers a choice of seven English-language based curricular programs related to the 36 departments of Tokyo Tech and enables students to obtain a Master's or Doctoral degree. There are three types of programs: the Integrated Doctoral Education Program, Master's Program and Doctoral Program. Some curricular programs are set up as an Integrated Doctoral Education Program, designed to combine the Master's Program and Doctoral Program so that graduate students can obtain both degrees within three to five years.

N.B. There are three types of programs in the International Graduate Program (A): Integrated Doctoral Education Program, Master's Program, and Doctoral Program.  Each program is outlined below.

1. Integrated Doctoral Education Program

This is a combined Master's and Doctoral Program, and is considered to be one continuous course of study, which cannot be divided into two separate programs. In the Master's segment, students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance during the program may be able to reduce their period of study. Similarly, in the Doctoral segment, students who demonstrate outstanding academic and research performance during the program may be able to reduce their period of study. Such students may be able to complete the entire Master's and Doctoral Program in the minimum period of three years. Conventionally, in a Japanese postgraduate program, students studying for a Master's degree must take 30 credits or more within a two-year period. For a Doctoral degree, an additional three years of study follows the Master's Program. The Integrated Doctoral Education Program requires students to enroll in the Tokyo Tech Master's program, regardless of whether or not they have already earned a Master's degree. A maximum of 10 credits of previously earned credits from a graduate school may be transferred to Tokyo Tech upon approval.

2. Master's Program

Students enrolled in the Master's degree program are expected to successfully complete their supervised studies within two years. To attain a Master's degree, students need to earn a designated number of credits outlined by their department in a predetermined program of study; complete and receive approval of their research thesis; and pass a comprehensive final examination. Students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance during the program may be able to reduce their period of study.

3. Doctoral Program

Students enrolled in the Doctoral degree program are expected to successfully complete their supervised study within three years. To attain a Doctoral degree, students need to earn a designated number of credits outlined by their department in a predetermined program of study; complete and receive approval of their research thesis; and pass a comprehensive final examination. Students who demonstrate outstanding academic and research performance during the program may be able to reduce their period of study.

3. Eligibility

Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship

MEXT Scholarships are divided into seven categories, and scholarship recipients may be selected from overseas candidates (through Embassy Recommendation or University Recommendation) and from privately funded international students already in Japan (Domestic Recruitment).

There are two ways of applying for a MEXT Scholarship.

The first is through an Embassy Recommendation, by which MEXT requests Japanese embassies and consulate generals (hereafter referred to as Japanese embassies) to recommend students for MEXT Scholarships. The other is through a University Recommendation, by which Tokyo Tech can provide MEXT with a recommendation for awarding MEXT Scholarships. It is not allowed to apply for both of these types of scholarships simultaneously. Successful applicants shall be provided with the following scholarship benefits.

Allowance:- Graduate-level studentsJapanese Intensive Course Students and Research

Students: 146,000 yen/monthMaster's Program Students: 147,000 yen/monthDoctoral Program Students: 148,000 yen/month- Undergraduate students: 120,000 yen/month
(The actual amount is subject to change.)

Travel Expenses:
In accordance with MEXT regulations, each grantee will be provided with an economy class air ticket between the international airport closest to the student's place of residence in the student's country of nationality and Narita or Haneda International Airport.

School Fees:
Application, admission and tuition fees shall be waived.

Embassy Recommendation

MEXT requests Japanese embassies to recommend MEXT Scholarship students. Since recruitment periods differ by country, applicants should check with the Japanese embassies in their own countries.

For Pakistan:

Undergraduate students are scheduled to arrive in Japan in April and graduate-level students in April or October. To ensure enrollment at Tokyo Tech, graduate-level applicants must obtain a "Letter of Acceptance" from a Tokyo Tech faculty member. After passing the first round of screening at a Japanese embassy, applicants should contact a faculty member at Tokyo Tech as soon as possible to ask for a "Letter of Acceptance" from a potential academic advisor. The "Letter of Acceptance" is a document in which a Tokyo Tech faculty member commits to act as a candidate's academic advisor if the candidate is accepted as a MEXT Scholarship student. Graduate-level students receiving Embassy Recommendations in countries other than China attend a Japanese Intensive Course for the first six months after arrival in Japan as Japanese Intensive Course Students.
Graduate-level students receiving Embassy Recommendations in China, in general, attend a one-year preparatory course (basic and specialized Japanese language) at the Preparatory School for Chinese Students to Japan at the Northeast Normal University of China before coming to Japan. After the preparatory course, they enter Tokyo Tech as Research Students. Students who already have adequate Japanese language skills might be able to enter Tokyo Tech directly as Research Students without attending the preparatory course. Another alternative might be to take only the specialized Japanese language course before entering Tokyo Tech.

If Japanese Intensive Course Students or Research Students pass the screening examination during their studies or research at Tokyo Tech, they may enroll in a master's or doctoral program in either October or April.
Undergraduate students are required to study in a preparatory school, either at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies or Osaka University, for one year prior to admission to Tokyo Tech, and may enroll in April of the following year if they pass the Special Screening Examination for International Undergraduate Students administered by Tokyo Tech.

University Recommendation

Tokyo Tech provides MEXT with recommendations for awarding MEXT Scholarships to academically outstanding individuals who are considered in need of a scholarship. Recommendations can be provided for individuals who are coming to Japan to study at Tokyo Tech as Research Students or graduate students (Overseas Application-), or individuals registered in their third or fourth year as undergraduate students or graduate students of Tokyo Tech (Domestic Recruitment).

Note: An applicant cannot apply for both the (1) Research Student Program and the (2) International Graduate Program (A) at the same time.

(1) Research Student Program

Students enter Tokyo Tech as Research Students as a general rule. Priority is given to applicants who receive a recommendation from universities which have an academic exchange agreement with Tokyo Tech. A student who passes Tokyo Tech's entrance examination during the Research Student period may enroll in a master's or doctoral program the following April or October. It is not possible to switch from the Research Student Program to the International Graduate Program (A) once the student has been admitted to Tokyo Tech on the Research Student Program. The scholarship period can be extended under some conditions specified by MEXT.

(2) International Graduate Program (A)

Students enroll directly in the Tokyo Tech International Graduate Program's Degree Courses (Integrated Doctoral Education Program, master's program or doctoral program). In the case of Integrated Doctoral Education Program, the scholarship period given at the time of enrollment is two years (for obtaining a master's degree), and it can be extended toward a doctoral degree under some conditions.

Candidates for Recommendation

(1) Individuals who have been officially recommended by an overseas university with which Tokyo Tech has an academic exchange agreement

(2) Individuals who have been officially recommended by the president or a faculty member of equal or greater rank than dean of an overseas university with which Tokyo Tech does not have an academic exchange agreement, but with which Tokyo Tech has a history of exchange

(3) Individuals who have not been recommended by an overseas university with which Tokyo Tech has an academic exchange agreement or a history of exchange, but who are considered by Tokyo Tech's president to become outstanding contributors to the improvement of education or research at Tokyo Tech.

Notes:
Students who obtain a MEXT Scholarship through Tokyo Tech's University Recommendation cannot enter or transfer to another university due to scholarship restrictions specifying that the students must receive their education and conduct research at the university which recommended them.
